Information About Bourke's Parrot

Bourke's Parrot( Neopsephotus bourkii ) also named as Bourke's Parakeets, Bourke's Parrots, or Bourkies. is a small sized parrot originating in Australia. Bourke's Parrot is approximately of size of budgerigar.It is the only species in genus Neopsephotus. This species is not endangered.

Coloration:
Wild Bourke's Parrot is overall brown colored with pink abdomen.The male has a blue forehead but female has little or no blue color on her forehead.

Physical characteristics:
Length is approximately 19 cm. And weight is about 45 g.

Feeding:
Bourke's Parrot mostly feeds on grasses and seeds.

Breeding:
Female lays three to six eggs and then incubates for 18 to 19 days. chicks fledgling at about 4 weeks of age. Females feeds chicks by herself, during incubation period while female sits on eggs or when feeding the chicks in the nest, she is fed by the male Bourke's Parrot.
