Red capped parrot western Australia
Known as the Red Capped Parrot or Western king Parrot also called Pileated Parakeet, this magnificent bird is a left over from Gondwana land before the great split of continents and is believed to be the most ancient of the Australian parrot species and unrelated to other parrots in AUSTRALIA.
Normally Red Capped Parrot is a very shy bird and has to be hand raised to quieten it enough to handle. Not a bird loved by orchardists as It is extremely destructive to the fruit Industry. It's long top beak is used tor extracting seed from the marri nut and other native nuts.
