Sulphur Crested Cockatoo Feeding And Habitat

One of Australia's favourite pets, they are very clever and affectionate birds. They are also, however, very noisy and require a lot of attention and can create bad neighbours from their habit of early screeching in the morning. These birds are not endangered and in fact are a pest in farming areas where theydig up crops of planted grain. They have been observed in flocks of over 1000 birds. They are also destructive in urban areas chewing balcony railings and in general causing great damage to housing. Crested Cockatoos are renowned for their warning system where one will be on the lookout for danger as the flock feeds and will screech When something approaches the flock.
FEED: They eat all types of seeds, nuts, vegetable matter and fruit. They also dig for grubs and all sorts of Insects. The cockatoo also supplements its diet with flowers, leaf buds, insects and larvae.
