BARN OWL HABITAT DIET AND OTHER FACTS

BARN OWL 
BARN OWL:
16 in. (41 cm). A long-legged, knock-kneed, pale, monkey-faced owl.White heart-shaped face and dark eyes.
No ear tufts.Distinguished in flight as an owl by large head and mothlike flight as this species by unstreaked whitish, buff, or pale cumamon underparts (ghostly at night) and warm brown back.

BARN OWL VOICE:
Shrill, rasping hiss or snore: kschh or shiiish. 

SIMILAR SPECIES:

Short-eared Owl streaked, has darker face and underparts, yellow
eyes.

HABITAT: 

Coniferous and deciduous woodlands, desert groves. Often roosts in groups in nonbreeding season.Barn owl Hunts over open country.

BARN OWL BREEDING:

In temperate regions, the breeding season of Barn owl is usually starts in late March to early April.Barn owls pair for life. Breeding can take place at any time prey is abundant, and in the warm parts of its range may occur at any time of the year. An increase in rodent populations will usually soon cause the local Barn Owls to begin nesting; thus, even in the cooler parts of its range two broods are often raised each year. The male entices as are often used. Occasionally, nesting takes place in mine shafts and caves.The Barn owl female typically lays four–seven eggs. The male Barn owl  brings food to the nest as the female incubates the eggs and cares for chicks.

Eggs: Barn owl number of eggs Up to 20, but usually 4–7.

Barn Owl Diet:  Rodents, Shrews, Small Birds, Frogs, Toads.
