Until the late 80's these birds were quite rare in Australian aviaries, however they are now fairly well known and although they can be difficult to breed. Plum-headed Parakeets are found in flocks, the males having a pinkish purple head and the females, a grey head.
Plum headed parakeet diet:
Seed heads wild grass, vegetables, garden weeds, corn, fruit (all kinds), chillies and our local eucalyptus and grevillia branches with seed/flowers.
