The Rainbow Lorikeet is a species of Australasian parrot found in Australia, Papua New Guinea, eastern Indonesia, New Caledonia, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.A native of the east coast, has now established itself In plague proportions n the Perth area. This is proving to be an environmental disaster as It is such an aggressive bird that it takes over nesting sights from local birds and drives them away from food sources. The bird was let loose from aviaries in the Crawley area in the early 1960's by some very stupid people who didn't like birds in aviaries.Their actions have proved to be extremely detrimental to our local birds and the Problem gets worse every year.
